Xbox Game Pass Price Increased; Console Game Pass To Be Discontinued

Significant changes are coming to the Xbox Game Pass service, some of which will go into effect in just a few hours. Microsoft has confirmed that starting July 10, the price will increase globally for new subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Core, and PC Games Pass. In the United States, monthly subscriptions to GamePass Ultimate will go from $16.00 to $19.99, and annual subscriptions will increase from $59.99 to $74.99. Meanwhile, the monthly price of the PC subscription will increase from $9.99 to $11.99. For existing members, recurring charges will increase after September 12, giving customers time to cancel their subscriptions before the new prices take effect.

Along with the price hike, Microsoft announced today that starting tomorrow new members will no longer be able to subscribe to Game Pass for consoles. Instead, a new option called Xbox Game Pass Standard will be introduced in the coming months. This option will include Xbox Live Gold multiplayer and access to the Xbox back catalog, but will not feature Day One games or cloud gaming. Existing subscribers to Game Pass for consoles with automatic renewal will still be able to keep their subscriptions.
