SSD & HDD Prices Could Skyrocket As Seagate & Western Digital Highlight Increased Demand

With two major manufacturers, Western Digital, and Seagate, expecting increased demand, SSD and HDD prices are expected to skyrocket.

SSD and HDD prices will only go up from here so now is the best time to get one before you buy at the top.

We've consistently reported on SSD price hikes in the past.Which is simply related to how the markets are trying to recover their lost gains due to negative financial growth in the last consecutive quarters. After COVID-19 took effect, companies saw massive inventory levels, following weak consumer demand, and needed correction to sell at a loss.

With the AI hype in the markets, after the consumer upgrade cycle, the storage industry is finally showing some hope to companies. To take advantage of this, we will see prices rise.

Trend force Reports that WD and Seagate have officially asked their retail partners to implement massive price increases on mechanical and solid-state hard drives. Here's what Seagate revealed about the addition to its retail channels:

TrendForce previously reported that we can expect a 25% increase in prices of storage devices, including mainstream SSDs and HDDs as well as professional ones. To reach the maximum price level, a bump of 40% is necessary in the coming period, which means we could see a total increase of 65% if we take modern-day price tags into account. This is the way markets will hold up in the long run, and in some ways, it's a healthy move, but it will hurt consumers.

If you're in the market for a storage device, now is probably the right time to snag one because waiting any longer might not be worth it in a situation like this.
