NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang Discloses The Company's “Secret Sauce”, Says He Still Serves Dishes The Best

Sometimes it feels like NVIDIA was destined to be in the position it's in right now, and CEO Jensen Huang has highlighted the company's “secret sauce” in an interview.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang says belief, persistence and resilience are what CEOs should aim for in order to succeed.

When we look at Team Green and how it managed to rise from the bottom of the markets, it's a wonderful sight. What was the reason behind such great success? Many ideas remain, but the firm's CEO makes it look easy.

In an interview with venture capitalist Naveen ChadhaJensen says the company is made up of ordinary people with big visions. However, this was not where the essence of success lay. Later, NVIDIA's CEO said that “persistence, resilience and belief” were the best part of the company's journey.

So we competed with 110, 120 graphics companies over time and what made us different was the vision and some would say it's the vision but it's easy to say it's the vision. We say the world differently so let me give you an example.

While people were thinking that they're making computer graphics chips or they're making computer graphics systems or they're trying to be the world's best and you can see that their mission statement says we're the world's best. 3D graphics are going to make technology. , we've always seen it as an application problem with the goal of making the application more or more or fun or in many cases possible and the way we express that is high-speed computing.

What I've left over time is the word in front of it which is Application Accelerated Computing and it's really about the application. We always felt that it wasn't just about the 3D graphics chip. The 3D graphics chip and the underlying architecture and domain specific that we invented, OpenGL is definitely one of them, we didn't invent it but OpenGL is one of them. We invented CUDNN which is used for AI, we invented Rapids which is used for data processing QDF, we invented Q-Quantum for Quantum Simulation. There's a whole bunch of algorithmic and domain-specific libraries that we've built over time, but that platform, that library, serves the chip application.

So, from the beginning, instead of just having graphics chip designers, we always had people who were working with the application industry to use the technology to work with them on their applications. Encourage cations to react so they can benefit from it. Technology we have invented or algorithms to improve their computer graphics games. We were always in that mix of intersection between the application and the architecture we created.

Jensen Huang – CEO of NVIDIA

Now, when asked about a bet placed on NVIDIA, Jensen says their main focus is to improve the application of their technologies.

He says that while other companies were racing for computer power, NVIDIA focused on providing a suitable medium for its architecture to work, ultimately achieving overall success in all departments. NVIDIA's CEO claims that he sees AI as a “co-design or full-stack” issue, which is because of how widely CUDA and other domain-specific libraries have reached the stage where They are seen as the best in the markets.

Speaking a bit about NVIDIA's humble beginnings, Jensen says he never took his position at the company for granted and instead interacted with everyone on a personal level. Jensen's job as a waiter at Denny's made him realize that he needed to stay humble, and he said in the interview that “no one serves tables better than him yet.”

Hey, look, you know, the basic skill set, deep mode, look, these are life skills, you know, they help set the tables, make dinner and cook. These are really important life skills.

Jensen Huang – CEO of NVIDIA

The interview was truly a joy to watch, and it's inspiring to see how NVIDIA managed to transform a startup of three ordinary engineers into the most valuable computing firm in the world. Jensen also gave a brief explanation on the dynamics of AI. The future holds much for NVIDIA and everyone involved in this technological revolution.
