AMD Ryzen 9000 “Granite Ridge” CPUs are heading to AM5 soon and manufacturers like MSI are rolling out support with new AGESA BIOS updates.

We have seen before. ASUS rolled out AGESA 1.1.7.0 BIOS update. For its ROG STRIX and STRIX series AM5 motherboards. Although the motherboard vendor didn’t list anything within the changelog, it was confirmed by SMU that the BIOS is indeed coming soon for the upcoming Zen 5-based AMD Ryzen 9000 “Granite Ridge” family. was designed to enable Now, MSI has introduced its new BIOS update which further confirms that it is ready for the next generation CPUs.

The MSI AM5 motherboard BIOS is based on the slightly updated AGESA 1.1.7.0 patch A and is only rolled out for certain motherboard models. The description of this BIOS states that “AGESA ComboPI 1.1.7.0 Patch A is updated for next-generation CPUs.” Also, if you look at the size of the update, it is about 1.5 MB larger than previous AGESA BIOS updates for AM5 platforms.

We have already seen. 8-core and 6-core variants appear in the leak.. Also, it appears that motherboard vendors already have early test samples of Zen 5 “Ryzen” CPUs available, provided by AMD to enable early support for chips such as BIOS tweaking. could This helps AMD and its partners fix early bugs and issues with the platform, so an improved version of the BIOS can be released to the public in the future as we get closer to launch.

Now if all goes according to plan, we may get the first official unveiling of the AMD Zen 5 “Granite Ridge” Ryzen CPU family during Computex 2024, which is expected in early June. AMD is hosting Computex’s opening keynote.making it the perfect place to hold a grand unveiling.

Not much is known about AMD’s Zen 5 core architecture at the moment, but from what the company has officially stated, it will offer:

• Improved efficiency and performance
• Again the pipeline front-end and wider issue
• Integrated AI and machine learning optimizations

PC makers purchasing the AM5 platform are assured of drop-in compatibility with next-generation AMD Ryzen CPUs. The company has Committed to 2025+ plan for its AM5 socket. And as we’ve seen with the AM4 platform, AMD supports its desktop platforms more than Intel with a 7-year strong commitment to its previous platform. It will also come with Zen 5 core architecture. The next-generation Ryzen laptop family is codenamed Strix Point Which is also scheduled for the late 2025 CPU release plan.
