MSI Claw “Intel Core Ultra” Handheld Discounted To £599 In UK, 25% Below MSRP

The launch of the MSI Clau was far from successful. In fact, the company has made efforts to keep it low-profile, with no official review restrictions and surprise launches across regions. This initial exposure of the product with multiple issues left a negative impression on gamers.

Recent reviews often highlight that the claw is not inherently flawed, but that its pricing is difficult. MSI has priced its first handheld higher than the launch prices of the ASUS ROG Ally or the Lenovo Legion Go. The problem arises because these two consoles are often available for less than before, yet offer better gaming performance. The only comparable model in terms of pricing was the Core Ultra 5 135H, which lacks the full GPU specs found in the 155H variant.

MSI CLAW Price Drop

Currently, leading UK retailer, Curry's has reduced the price of the Core Ultra 7 155H variant to £599, a significant reduction of £200 or 25% from its original launch price. This substantial price reduction applies to the flagship version, which boasts the highest-end Core SKU and offers 1TB of storage.

As of now, this pricing appears to be limited to the UK only. However, the official US store has already reduced the price of the Core Ultra 5 135H model to $649. Considering that the product is barely two months old, this price drop came sooner than expected, possibly indicating the need for an adjustment.

The official MSI Claw price drop is valid in all regions where it is available. The starting MSRP doesn't match up well with the performance of Radeon 780M-based Ryzen Z1 chips, which outperform it in gaming.
