Microsoft tests a handy Windows account summary – and another ad
Microsoft said Friday that it will begin rolling out an easier summary of your account settings in the Windows 11 Start menu — but also that it will push advertising for Xbox Game Pass on the Start page.
Released by Microsoft. Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3500 (KB5036985) Friday on Beta Channel. This is an indication that these features will probably arrive on your PC before long. Even if you've signed up to use the beta channel, however, you'll need to toggle on “Get the latest features as they become available” to see them immediately.
Both new significant changes are being rolled out to those who turn on these features. And the first one looks simple enough: if you hover over your name in the Start menu, you'll see a small summary of your subscriptions, if any, and how much storage you have left in the cloud. You can also find this information elsewhere in the Settings menu, or in your Microsoft account summary on the web. Still, that's a simplistic summary.

Microsoft is also making sure you've added a recovery email address in the same box, asking you if you haven't. Again, a useful addition.
I'm less excited about a new Game Pass recommendation card that will appear inside the “Home” tab of the Windows 11 Settings menu. The “Discover Your Next Favorite Game” card does exactly what you'd suspect: It's just a way to sign you up for an Xbox Game Pass subscription, complete with a button to do so. Microsoft seems to be reconfiguring Bluetooth settings and the usual “cloud storage” card to do this.
Microsoft
All the little ways Microsoft uses Windows to entice you to sign up for more subscriptions are honestly starting to blur together. If it's not trying to get you to use Edge, it's a different push to use it as your preferred browser. Use a local account? Bad user. Any gamer worth their salt has already decided if they can. Endure Xbox Game Pass. now that Microsoft's rewards are being undermined.. (Microsoft also essentially killed the Rewards app on Xbox last week.)
Microsoft is also adding a previously announced feature to allow you to toggle between different widgets dashboards. If you have a Google account and want to share something, that's also being added.
