Lenovo Combines Intel Core Ultra CPUs With LPCAMM2 Memory In ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 Laptop

Lenovo has it. The unveiling The world's first laptop to combine Intel's Core Ultra CPUs with Micron's next-generation LPCAMM2 memory.

Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 Laptop Launches: Intel Core Ultra CPUs, NVIDIA RTX GPUs, LPCAMM2 Memory, and AI Ready Design

Lenovo has updated its laptop portfolio with its first AI-Ready mobile workstation featuring Intel Core Ultra vPro CPUs and more. It is powered by a Core Ultra 9 chip with 16 cores and 22 threads running at up to 5.1 GHz with 24 MB of smart cache. Although these chips pack an Intel Arc “Xe-LPG” iGPU with 8 Xe-Cores, no mobile workstation is complete without a discrete graphics solution and the ThinkPad P1 supports up to Gen 7. NVIDIA's RTX 3000 “Ada” GPUFeaturing 4608 CUDA cores and 8 GB GDDR6 memory.

The Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 laptop comes with a 16-inch screen with a 16″10 aspect ratio and 92% screen-to-body ratio in an ultra-slim package that measures just 17.05mm (thickness). The top cover is made of Made from recycled aluminum which not only ensures an eco-friendly design but also results in a very durable body.

As far as performance is concerned, Lenovo tops out at system level 330 which is a combination of GPU and Core Ultra chip. The NVIDIA RTX 3000 Ada produces around 318 TOP tensor cores of performance (INT8) while the Intel Core Ultra NPU provides 11 TOPs with the rest coming from the CPU and iGPU. The laptop is marketed as an AI-first mobility workstation so it's clear why computing performance is highlighted in these workloads.

The ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 uses another interesting design choice for the laptop. LPCAMM2 7467 MT/s memory. This makes this generation ThinkPad the first Lenovo laptop to combine Core Ultra CPUs with the latest LPCAMM2 memory standard. A single module is used which can offer up to 64 GB of system memory. The laptop also has two M.2 slots and a dual-fan cooling solution equipped with a large central heatsink with large heatpipes covering the CPU and GPU.

Additionally, the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 is the world's first mobile workstation to include LPDDR5x. LPCAMM2 Memory, up to 64 GB. LPCAMM2, which has been brought to market. Micron in collaboration with LenovoProvides one of the fastest energy efficient modular memory solutions for PCs. Uses 61% less active power and 64% space savings compared to DDR5 SODIMM3LPCAMM2 provides high bandwidth and dual-channel support with a single module and is an ideal high-performance memory solution for mobile workstations and AI PC workloads.
