Joel and Ellie return in 'The Last of Us' Season 2 first look

HBO has released a first look. The last of us Season 2. Two new photos (below) show how Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsay) have adjusted to life afterward. Season 1 finale.

The first season of the popular zombie-based series ended with Joel bringing up Ellie. Wake up In the hope that his immunity Cordyceps fungus A cure can help. However, he learned that creating a cure would require Ellie's death. Unwilling to sacrifice his surrogate daughter, Joel kills the rest of the fireflies, knocking Ellie unconscious and fleeing back to Jackson, Wyoming. He tells her that Firefly died in a raid, and the two of them barely made it out alive. It's a lie that Ellie reluctantly accepts.

Season 2, which will premiere in 2025, will begin with Ellie and Joel living in the Jackson community with Joel's brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna) and his wife Maria (Rotina Wesley). The first look at Ellie shows her hunting through a building with a flashlight and a rifle.

While Pascal and Ramsey are both returning. The last of usSeason 2 will also introduce a handful of new faces.

Caitlin Dever (Booksmart) is stepping into the lead role of Abby, a survivor who belongs to the Fireflies. Isabella Merced (Turtles all the way down) Dina, Ellie's girlfriend, and Young Mazino (Beef) Jackson will play patrol leader Jesse. Shit CreekOf Catherine O'Hara has also joined the cast in an as-yet-unknown role.

The last of us Season 1 is now streaming on Max. Season 2 premieres on HBO and Max in 2025.
