Intel Granite Rapids “Up To 128 P-Core” & Sierra Forest “Up To 288 E-Core” CPU Specs Leak, Massive LGA 7592 & LGA 4710 Motherboards Pictured Too

Intel's Granite Rapids P-Core & Sierra Forest E-Core “Xeon 6” CPU Specs have been leaked with LGA 7592 and LGA 4710 motherboards.

Intel Granite Rapids CPUs will feature up to 128 P-Cores, Sierra Forest CPUs will feature up to 288 E-Cores: LGA 7592 platform for AP and LGA 4710 platform for SP chips.

Just a few hours ago, We reported the preliminary specifications of the four Granite Rapids-AP SKUs.and now, we have a mega leak. YuuKi_AnS who previously gave us a glimpse of the Beechnut City reference platform around the LGA 4710 socket.

Starting with the details, the new CPUs will be part of the Intel Xeon 6 family which is divided into P-Core-only Granite Rapids and E-Core-only Sierra Forest lineups. A total of 12 Granite Rapids chips and 17 Sierra Forest chips are mentioned here but as always, there could be more at the official launch.

Intel Xeon 6 Granite Rapids P-Core CPUs

First, we have the Intel Granite Rapids family that uses the Xeon 6 6000P branding. These chips will be divided into SP and AP sections which we will get to in a bit. All chips are based on Redwood Cove P-Core architecture. The Granite Rapids-SP CPU lineup ranges from 32, 44, and 56 cores, offering up to 288 MB of L3 cache and up to 350W TDPs. The clock speeds are listed although they are based on ES specs so the final frequency should be higher.

The lineup will also include high-end Granite Rapids-AP CPUs designed as more premium Intel Platinum offerings. These include the Xeon 6 6980P, 6979P, 6972P and 6960P. These chips have 72, 96, 120 and 128 cores, up to 3.80 GHz clock speed, and up to 500W TDPs.

Intel Xeon 6 Sierra Forest E-Core CPUs

Moving on to the Intel Xeon 6 6000E “Sierra Forest” lineup, we have 16 SP SKUs and only one AP SKU. All chips are based on the Sierra Glenn e-core architecture, which is an improved version of the Crestmont core architecture featured on Meteor Lake client chips. The CPUs range from 64, 96, 112, 128, 144 cores with up to 108 MB cache and 350W TDPs while the single AP SKU has 216 MB L3 cache and 288 cores up to 500W TDP.

Considering that Intel's Emerald Rapids (5th Gen Xeon) family has reached 64 cores, the Granite Rapids will offer double the core count. It also matches the maximum core count the classic Zen 5-based EPYC Turin chips are expected to feature. 128 cores while the Zen 5C is going up to 192 cores..

One thing we should mention is that the “AP” lineup is centered around a larger socket. Intel's BirchStream platform will come in two flavors. LGA 4710 for SP chips And Larger LGA 7592 socket for AP chips. Intel will also offer. 288 cores on its Sierra Forest e-core family.

Intel LGA 4710 “Beechnut City” and LGA 7592 “Avenue City” platforms for Xeon 6 CPUs

Now let's talk about the platform. Intel Xeon 6 SP CPUs will be compatible with LGA 4710 sockets in 1S-8S configuration. The reference platform for LGA 4710 is known as “Beechnut City” and has 32 DIMM slots supporting 4 TB DDR5 RDIMM/MCR capacities. The CPUs have 8-channel IMC and offer up to 136 PCIe Gen5 lanes.

The second and monster platform is the AP series which has an LGA 7592 socket and is compatible with 288 E-Core and 128 P-Core Xeon 6 CPUs. The LGA 7592 is the reference platform “Avenue City” and has 24 DIMM slots running a 12-channel memory solution. The platform also has support for 136 PCIe Gen5 lanes.

Intel Sierra Forest CPUs are expected to debut this quarter around Computex 2024 and compete with the current AMD EPYC Bergamo “Zen 4C” and the upcoming EPYC Turin “Zen 5C” Chips While the Granite Rapids P-Core CPUs are expected to debut later this year and will target the Turin “Zen 5” lineup.
