Intel's The next generation Arrow Lake S desktopCore Ultra 200″ CPU Seen in 24 and 20 core flavors, and also shows no SMT support.

Intel driver logs confirm two Aero Lake S “Core Ultra 200” desktop CPU configurations: A 24-core and A 20-core variants.

Intel's Arrow Lake-S CPUs will mark a big change for the desktop platform. You get a chip with an all-new architecture and a new platform LGA 1851 socket. The Arrow Lake-S CPUs will consist of Lion Cove P-Cores and Skymont E-Cores. We've seen the CPUs so far in 24-core configurations in an 8+16 layout, and now we have two additional leaks..

The CPUs leaked today are referred to in the latest driver log as “Aero Leak Client Platform” and are running MTLSFWI1.R00.3473.D80.2311222130 BIOS dated 11/22/2023 . Two Intel Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs in a 24 cover part which should use the same 8 P-Core and 16 E-Core configurations and is listed at a clock speed of 3.00 GHz while the other models 20 core spec That should use an 8 P-Core and 12 E-Core configuration and is listed at a clock speed of 2.30 GHz.

These CPU configurations look similar to the current Core i9-14900K and Core i7-14700K, but the major difference is that SMT/HT support is not mentioned. It was recently highlighted that the removal of SMT/HT from Intel's CPUs is related to more efficient use of E-Cores where they play the role of HT for multi-threaded apps, and higher performance. We'll see how Intel's removal of HT from next-gen CPUs ends up, but Intel is still having trouble optimizing its E-Cores in some apps and games. Intel worked to improve the utilization of its E-Core in the form of APO (Application Performance Optimization) but it only supports a small list of games and is limited to the latest CPUs. Intel recently opened up APO support for older chips. But we have yet to see the support roll out.

In addition to CPU compute tiles, Intel's Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs will feature a GT1-tier iGPU based on the Arch Xe-LPG “Alchemist” architecture. The movement segments are expected to improve. Alchemist+ “Xe-LPG+” graphics With some refinements on the original design but that's about it.

It will also likely be Intel's first desktop family to feature an NPU, with AMD already beating Intel to feature a dedicated AI NPU unit on both mobile and desktop platforms. Intel's The Core Ultra 200 family will also include Lunar Lake chips. But they will only be targeted on mobility platforms.
