Can the APXM-6200 take the RISC-V CPU to ARM?

Imagination Technologies is hoping to take some market share away from ARM with its new APXM-6200 RISC-V CPU, designed to power all the smart devices we love to hate. The APXM-6200 cores are designed similarly to the Cortex-A series from ARM, but do not rely on the ARM license. They currently top out at four cores, which is adequate for powering an interface on a smart TV or toaster, but Imagination plans to scale them up to 12 cores in the future. While the APXM-6200 lacks L3 cache, there is 128 KB of L1 and 1MB pf L2 per core. It's not up to the top Cortex-A chips but it could also make them less expensive, which could be very attractive to companies looking at mass production of smart devices.

Take it with a grain of salt, as these were domestic standards. But the Register was told. that in SpecINT2k6 the APXM-6200 outperforms the Cortex-A53 by 65% and the newer Cortex-A510 by 14%. Actual performance may vary, but if they can come close to real-world tasks, Imagination can take advantage of the fact that they designed and developed onboard GPUs, as well as when they sell their chips to manufacturers. Trying to sell.

As you might expect, the APXM-6200's usefulness in AI applications is also discussed, which is covered in the full article.
