About a year ago we took a look at our first PCI-Express 5.0 or Gen5 solid state drive, Important T700. At the time it was the fastest drive we've tested, but it still didn't take full advantage of what Phison's E26 controller can do. We actually got a real preview of what this controller could do when Fison sent us theirs. PS5026-E26 Max14um preview drive A few months ago. Now it's the turn of the main with their new T705. This Gen5 drive uses Phison's PS5026-E26 controller combined with 232-Layer Micron TLC NAND and a pretty modest passive heatsink. Crucial has really optimized this drive so it's rated for 14,500 MB/s reads and 12,700 MB/s writes! Let's take a look and see what it can do!

Packaging

The T705 comes in a very nice retail package with a picture of the drive on the front. We received a limited edition version of the drive that comes with a white heatsink.

Also on the package front it tells us 2TB capacity. Now the limited edition version of the drive is only available in 2TB, but the regular version of the drive will be available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB versions. Flipping the package over there is some information on the drive in a handful of different languages.
