AMD Ryzen CPUs topped Korean DIY sales charts with Ryzen 5 being the choice of gamers over Intel's Core lineup.

A new market analysis has been published. Danva Research Which does an excellent job of analyzing market trends and unit sales/shipment data across various retail outlets in the country. The latest analysis was conducted as of March 2024 and shows that AMD Ryzen CPUs are still the top choice among gamers with Intel Core CPUs not far behind.

In late 2023, the Korean DIY segment saw a major shift as AMD Ryzen CPUs began to outpace Intel Core chips. In 2024, AMD Ryzen CPUs are now even more popular, with share up to 56.5% (as of February 2024) with Intel falling to 43.5% (as of February 24). This is the first time since July 2020 that AMD has beaten Intel with more than a 10% share lead.

In terms of CPUs, the South Korean market seems to be driven mostly by the mainstream lineup with a few high-end models. Unsurprisingly, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 is the most popular model with a share of 11.8%. This is interesting because the Ryzen 5 5600 is an older AM4 CPU but gamers seem to value it because of the platform's low cost associated with AM4 and its DDR4 memory compatibility. The second and third most popular chips are the Ryzen 5 7600 and Ryzen 5 7500F, both of which have a share of 9.3% and 7.7% respectively.

These are the most entry-level Ryzen 7000 SKUs you can find on the AM5 platform and it makes sense why they can be so popular among gamers. These two chips allow users to make a low-cost upgrade to the AM5 CPU platform, giving them more options for future upgrades without changing their PCs too much.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the fourth most popular choice with a share of 6.2% and this chip is considered to be one of the best gaming processors on the market right now with excellent performance. in America, The Ryzen 7 7800X3D has become a popular choice. After overtaking the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in terms of sales. Additionally, the CPU has been available at great discounted deals since its launch.

The only Intel CPUs on the charts are the Core i7-14700K (6th position) and the Core i5-14400F (7th position). with the Recent reports of gaming instability on the 14th and 13th gen familieswe may see an increase in CPU sales on the AMD Ryzen side of things. Korean DIY builders and pre-built buyers are already returning their systems after experiencing several problems with these chips.. While Intel still has a large market share in other DIY markets, AMD's Ryzen CPUs are definitely chipping away at it.
